If a correction looks wrong
When CountHound restocks
CountHound puts units back only when all of these are true:
- A refund or cancellation came through and Shopify didn't restock the items.
- Shopify tracks inventory for that product.
- CountHound can tell which location the units belong to.
If the refund is linked to a Shopify return, CountHound doesn't restock it. Returns can restock on their own, so it holds the item for your review instead to avoid counting it twice. You'll find it in the item's History with a Mark reviewed button.
Where to see what it did
Every correction leaves a trail:
- A row in Recent activity on your dashboard. Click it to open the item's History, which says what changed and why, for example "Restored 2 units after refund #1014".
- A short note on the Shopify order, starting with "CountHound", and the tag counthound-corrected.
- An email right after the correction, unless you've turned those off.
Reporting a correction
- Open the item's History from Recent activity.
- Click Looks wrong? on the entry.
- Say what doesn't look right, then click Send report.
The entry is marked Reported ✓, and the report comes straight to us with the order, the item, and the change. We'll look at it and reply by email within one business day. You can also simply reply to the correction email.
Sending a report doesn't change your inventory.
Changing the count yourself
If you need the count fixed right away, adjust it in your Shopify admin the way you normally would. CountHound doesn't reverse its own corrections.
Because a manual adjustment has no order behind it, CountHound may flag it as an unexplained change after its two nightly checks. If that happens, click Resolve and note that you adjusted it yourself. CountHound then treats the new count as correct.
